Milk - 1/2 litre
Rice flour - 1 tbsp
Wheat Germ - 30 gms
Mawa - 100 gms
Sugar - 1 cup or to taste
Rose water - 2 tbsp
Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
A few strands of saffron dissolved in 1 tbsp of milk
Method:
- Heat a little milk and add the mawa and mix to a smooth paste.
- Separately mix the rice flour and wheat germ in little water.
- Heat the milk and brings to boil it, add mawa paste and stir well.
- add the rice flour and cook for few minutes.
- Then add the wheat germ and cook till thick, stirring continuously as the phirni will start thickening immediately.
- Add sugar and keep stirring till it dissolves.
- Add saffron and cardamom powder and remove from fire.
- Add rose water.
- Garnish with sliced almonds, pistachios
- Serve chilled
