DONDAKAYA PULUSU (GHERKIN SWEET & SOUR CURRY)

Ingredients:
Gherkins -500 gms
Onions - 2-3
Tamarind - 1/2 lemon size
Oil- 1-2 tsp
Garlic cloves - 10-12
Cumin seeds -1 tsp
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
Jaggery -small piece
Turmeric -1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp


Method:

  • Coarsely ground onions with garlic and cumin seeds.
  • Slit gherkins into four and apply salt, turmeric, chilli powder mix inside the slits.
  • Take juice from the tamarind
  • Boil the tamarind juice, add mixture filled Gherkins and boil till they are tender.
  • Heat the oil in kadai, add curry leaves, onion paste and cook till the oil leaves sides.
  • Add gherkins with tamarind juice, jaggery and cook till the gravy becomes thick.
  • Serve with rice
